On Participation of the Womenfolk in Society

It is my candid belief that much of the socio-economic problems we experience are a result of a dearth of requisite representation of women in areas like health, education, social welfare, youth development where they are superior in knowledge and naturally fit to be able to best proffer sustainable solutions which can be implemented at the home-front, community, & general grassroots level.

With particular reference to Northern Nigeria and specifically Muslim communities, it is a bitter truth that the extent to which traditions & culture have been intermingled with religious doctrine has created a wide gap in all developmental indices with the female population being resigned to a latent and virtually dependent/unproductive liability on our society.

So far as the society does not embrace reform with an open mind while looking inward and essentially creating a new paradigm, so long will we continue to wallow in a 'rat race' of sorts. Balance is what we need; a balance of retaining the true essence of the teachings of our religious doctrine and that of an ever evolving world that needs the HOLISTIC input of members of the 'Ummah' (society).

And the Ummah is the best of mankind because they enjoin that which is good and forbid that which is bad. This description should form the basis upon which we build the society.
