An Echo to Umar Saleh Gwani's "A Poetic Enquiry on Salvation"
.
you love it with the tenderness of the air
which envelopes us even as we are unaware.
.
the arrival, may yet be boon or curse,
depending on forward party sent forth by twilight.
.
whose main goal may be to rise out of the ashes as energy can neither be more or less.
.
be not decieved by appearances for the elements must yet give account.
.
every crevice and rock must be unearthed, no matter the pains,
to shroud mystery in a garment of clarity,
.
till illusion succumbs to the pummels of lucidity,
.
and make hallucinations homeless, bereft of power to muster even a retort;
.
yes my Brother! The tyranny of fatigue knows no bounds, as it will even spread a mattress of thorns for your torture.
.
which is why insomnia will always be in business,
.
till that final third, the treasured, when all is answered and even more.
.
yet still, fates can be recouped in a mouthful of tongue-movements, whose utterance is sweeter than any nectar.
.
and the Oft-Repeated Verses are always there to be interspersed with the Forgiveness Plea.
.
for wealthy is he, who can leave this place forgiven.
.
and I have learnt that we can make every breath a conscious act of gratitude.
.
the philosophy of poetry is that in a simile, you must always find a metaphor...
.
for like is only similar, not the same.
.
and so if I see nothing, it may be because you are there for me to see thru your words and not with these eyes.
.
and therein lies the core of poetry.
