A SEARCHER

If 'footprints' could last
Like a metal cast
I'd have put in firm place

Yet neither sign nor trace
Have I stumbled on
This long winding 'path'

If 'voices' could linger
Like an echo of a ringer
I'd have followed their sweet rhythm

Yet neither rhythm nor rhyme
Have my attentive ears heard
Over blare of this 'song'

If images could be clear
Like the feel of monstrous fear
I'd have 'seen' the big picture

Yet neither order nor clarity
Have I set eyes upon
From this high 'balcony'

If thoughts could materialise
Like a blink of my eyes
I would have fluttered aplenty

Yet hardly any speck
Have I been able to grasp
from this blinding 'smoke'

In the end
I remain
a Searcher...
